The NNAS Night Owl Course is ideal if you're wishing to take your map reading to the next level by giving you the skills and understanding to navigate when visibility is more challenging.
Modules covered are as follows:
Kit use/practice
Speed, Time and Distance
Pacing
Contours
Relocation
Spatial Awareness
Navigation Strategies: attack points, collecting features, aiming off, hand-railing
Appearance
Dead Reckoning
Please ensure you have suitable clothing and footwear for walking in muddy and wet condition through woodland and open spaces.
Please ensure you have informed Course Staff of any medical conditions, injuries or illnesses you may have, before attending. So suitable measure can be made (if possible) to accommodate needs.
Please bring any medication you may require along with instructions
We would advice bringing your own drinks and Snacks
Hat gloves and scarfs are recommended
Maps and Compasses can be provided
The course is Scheduled between 18:00 and 23:00
Parking is free, but would advise bringing means of payment in case that ever changes
Please be aware there is a height barrier, so Vehicles above 6'6" may not be able to enter the carpark.
